BYD Company limited started in 1995, it was founded by Wang Chuanfu in Shenzhen, China as a rechargeable battery manufacturer. In 2003 BYD come into the automotive industry after buying Qinchuan Automobile Company. The company took a step in electric vehicles and they launched the world’s first high-street plugin hybrid electric vehicle in 2008 named as the BYD F3DM.

After success of their first plugin hybrid electric vehicle they launched their all electric vehicle BYD E6 in 2010.

In 1995 BYD was founded by Wang Chuanfu who was an engineer with knowledge in materials chemistry in Shenzhen China. At first the company focused on making rechargeable batteries for mobile phones specially nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) and nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. In return the company quickly receive success. BYD become China’s largest producer of rechargeable batteries in 1998. This success become possible by its cost effective making methods and advanced technologies. BYD extended into the lithium-ion battery markets in 2000 by supplying batteries to top mobile phone brands like Nokia and Motorola.

In 2003 BYD come into the automotive industry by purchasing Tsinchuan Automobile Company and then they rebranded it as BYD Auto. The company targeted to manufacture reasonable and advanced vehicles custom made to the Chinese market.
